On this page you will find a collection of Unidentified Signal Sources that has been found on the 70 MHz band. You can help to identify them and also report USS yourself by sending an email to Bo OZ2M with a recording and a detailed description. The more details the easier it will be to identify. The USS should be heard more than ones. A USS can be RFI or a (DX) signal that shows up every now and then when conditions are favourable.
|All over the band||I hear it often, always sweeping from high to low frequency. Speed of the sweep varies, but it's often as fast as you hear on the first one. When it starts I hear it for 20-30 mins. Then hours of silence usually. Heard mostly during the day. Never heard at night. I don't think is an oscillator of some sort locally, it wouldn't sweep always on the same direction.||JM78TC||Frank|
This signal arrived from east during an opening to SV9 (beacon 9+30) and 5B (beacon only S7), the recording was made on 70012 but I heard a similar signal (not the same though) on 70153.
|70039||Recording of some sort of beacon heard yesterday on 70039, it was peaking S9 but didn't get the beaming for it. Sporadic E from all direction, (OZ/EA/SV/CT/I1 hrd) band really full of OIRTs too, could have been anywhere.||JM78TC||Frank|
|70123||Strange digi like QRM when huge MUF and opening to EA/EA8 occured. Time around 18:40 UTC - possibly France?||235||JO92EF||SP3RNZ|
|70150||Telemetry-like signal often on 70150, when ES open. Also heard from Sardinia on the same frequency when band open with ES.||JM78TC||Frank|
|70163||Direction of USS not determined, antenna heading S-W, beaming CS5 beacon. At this time massive Es clusters above Germany and HB9 with MUF up to 171 MHz and 9H station were heard on the side of the beam||270°||JO92EF||SP3RNZ|
|70196||Telemetry like signal always present when Es is present or about.||80°||JO65FR||Bo|
|70200||Looks like a beacon or busy phone. It is present when Es open with FM broadcasts, but only heard twice in all these months.||JM78TC||Frank|
|70200||Signal heard when conditions are good.||135°||JO55PM||Jørgen|
|70200||Data signal heard when Es to south west is present. The signal is rather broad ~70,195 MHz to ~70,205 MHz.|
Also heard by: DL3YEE (SW), G3LVP (190°), IZ8DWF (W), OZ2M (SW) and PC5C (S).
|702446,6||Observation made with no apparent Es on 4 m. MUF at 67 MHz in JN28. No ES to south from SP3RNZ. USS seems to be broadband with the same kind of "identification" and with a signal strength of S7. Main signal seems to have been on 70,2466 MHz.|
Similar signals seen on 70002,4 MHz S2, 70017,6 MHz S2, 70124,6 MHz S4, 70185,6 MHz S4, 70216,2 MHz S4 and 70262,0 MHz S2. Observation confirmed by Frank IZ8DWF and signals were east of him.
|70250||No Es, MUF 80 MHz above JN02, antenna beaming West appeared 1005 UTC gone 1010 UTC||W||JO92EF||Greg SP3RNZ||2013-08-10|
|70250||I heard this signal on 70.250 USB in SW direction on 19/04/2015 from 0700 UTC.||SW||JM75FW||Ivan|
