A very quiet Contest!

Sunday the 6th of April was 4M contest day, and despite monitoring and calling on 70.450 I didn't hear one station! Was it as quiet all over, or just in my region? Can we drum up a bit more activity for the next contest at the end of April? 73 Phil JJZ

Here you have reached a significant conclusion. 4m contests appeal to ssb /cw operators only NOT fm. They have never been known to bring more than one or two stations on the top end of the band ever.
Right or wrong that is the way it is....
How would you like it to be?
It could be anything between a 10x multiplier for using FM to FM QSOs inadmissable for scoring.
I would like a 100x points multiplier for proper AM<!!! Should encourage the mode. Don't suppose I will ever see it.

Thanks for those words of experience. I've an old AM Reporter on 70.260 (somewhere!) so we could start an AM contest group! A pity we're not closer.

I'm still going to persist on FM during contests, as I'm sure I'm not going to get in anyone's way, even on the calling channel. I reckon most 4M users are on FM anyway, so more could join in, and maybe the band will get a bit more use? Where I live it's mainly 'Tweedle Dee calling Tweedle Dum'.

Anyone else up for trying FM in a contest?

It's another contest on the 29th, so I'll be FM ing from the rooftops in square IO93! Hope someone's out there....
