GB3CFG

Postby GI0GDP » Thu 27 Oct 2011, 13:57

GB3CFG is currently off due to loss of it's electricity supply, tripped in the bad weather. Normal service as soon as the trip has been reset

Geoff

Just a note to thank you for all your work. Your beacon is a great DX indicator here.

GB3CFG QRT

Postby GI0GDP » Tue 20 Dec 2011, 17:50

This afternoon i retrieved GB3CFG from its very wet hut up on the hills behind Carrickfergus. Still keying away but both PAs the worst for damage from corrosion (in the path of the fumes from the Power Station at Kilroot)
So although it can be sorted fairly quickly it may be a while before it goes back on location.

Geoff,

Thanks for the update, I was looking for CFG yesterday & wondered
why I couldn't find it.

Thanks for your efforts & hope that it doesn't require too much work.

Geoff,

What's the status of CFG? I've been listening for it today but can't hear it.

(At the same time EI4RF on 70.130 is a good signal, I can even (just) hear it when it's beaming 035 deg. of course it is quite a bit closer).

GB3CFG is repaired, however some tidying up of the beacon needs to be done as the place it lives has sprung a leak!.
GB3NGI on 3cm is taking up all my free work space, so as soon as it moves to IO65VB then CFG will be tidied and then put back
regards
Geoff
OH it may be on test before hand for a week

Geoff,

Thanks for the info on 'CFG, I've only just seen your posting as the topic notification via email got stuck in my spam filter for some unexplained reason.

Hi Ken,
Good news is that GB3NGI is out of the workshop and CFG is in for the final tidy up.

GB3CFG

I wonder is there any news about GB3CFG? It was always a useful propagation indicator here in Swansea. Perhaps Geoff can advise us of the current situation?

I can't hear 'CFG here. However don't forget the alternative EI4RF on 70.130, that's a good 589 signal with me this evening on its 135 deg beam and 529 when it's on the 45 deg beam. (MCB is 579 & ANG is around 529 peaking 579 with aircraft reflections.

GB3CFG

Postby M0BTZ » Sun 23 Sep 2012, 23:54

Hi All,

I was operating /P with the Guildford Radio Society station today G5RS/P from JO00EW for the 4m PW contest. We had an home-brew 8ele yagi at about 40-45ft AGL in a very good location with good takeoff in most directions.

Beacons that we could hear in the flat conditions where GB3BUX, GB3BAA, GB3ANG, GB3MCB, G4JNT (we think), GB3RAL and EI4RF.

We where also able to receive MS pings and the occasional weak MS burst from OY6BEC in IP62MB!

Nothing was received from both the GB3CFG and GB3WSX beacons at this location. Though conditions where flat and we suffered with static rain at times. Are both of these beacons currently off the air?

Thanks,

Bill, M0BTZ

Looks like GB3WSX is off air at present (only 18km from here).

Beacon is back on as of 15:00 ish yesterday.
Its home on the hill has got a few leaks and as long as they stay away from
