Hi,
I have an icom 7300 and thinking of getting onto 4 mtrs again, how much activity is there around central Scotland at the present and does anyone know of a manufacturer of dual band 50 mhz/70 mhz vertical antennas.

I work half a dozen IO85 stations regularly, along with others in adjacent squares.

These are all on SSB, horizontally polarised.
I can't help as regards any vertically polarised activity.

Cheers

Hello Dave, I think you will enjoy 4m especially with a beam, it opens up some other opportunities.

We are enjoying good sporadic E propagation at the moment and qso's into EA8, CT, YU OH etc are all nice to work. Have you ever worked meteor scatter? at 70MHz the reflections ( I prefer to think of them as refractions really ) are fairly long and you can work random MS contacts even when there is no major shower.

If you haven't already looked into it take a read about WSJT

Whatever you do .. enjoy 4m

Due to storm damage I am in the process of getting antenna's back up, I am usually active from IO75 on FM and SSB (no cw) the XYL is active on CW however :)
